Finding the perfect wedding venue is no small task and should definitely be one of the first things on your list when it comes to planning your wedding. The venue that you chose will determine the look and feel of your day, the number of guests that you can invite and importantly, your budget. There so many different styles of venue’s available, the choice can feel overwhelming! Stately homes, exclusive use wedding venues, country barns, city venues, dry hire venues – how do you know what is right for you?

It’s your day!

Decide what kind of wedding you would like and consider what your vision is. Once you’ve decided on the look and feel of your wedding then you can begin to research potential weddings venues. If you’ve always dreamed of a romantic, classical and intimate day then consider a private hire, exclusive use venue. Take a look at my blog for more ideas on wedding venues

Visit your venue

Go and visit the venue yourself and go prepared with a list of questions to ask. Make sure you’re happy with the feel of the venue and that you’re confident the venue can accommodate all of your requests. Can the venue host your ceremony? If it’s mainly an outside venue, where will guests go if the weather isn’t on your side.

Budget

Before you even start looking at venues, decide on your budget.  It is surprising how many things are overlooked when it comes to allocating the budget for your venue. There may well be extra charges for catering, bar staff and other elements you might want to include. Particularly if you want to have a specific style to your wedding, you will need to work out how much it is going to cost and factor this into your overall budget. Budget is particularly important if you are hiring a dry hire or self catering venue, which means you are responsible for hiring and coordinating everything that is needed.

What’s included?

Find out what is included in your venue costs. A venue that provides tables and chairs for example, might seem more expensive than a venue that requires you to source your own but it’s a good idea to get an estimate from a hire company to see how the costs compare. Don’t forget that often the items included with a venue can be more basic than what you’d like and you may end up spending more to upgrade them. If you have a specific style in mind for your wedding then it’s a good idea to think about hiring in these items and including them in your venue hire costs.

Guests

It’s easy to forget that many of your guests will have travelled a considerable distance and probably spend quite a bit of money on your big day! Chose a venue that is easy for them to get to and has a range of affordable accommodation nearby or onsite. Consider a organising something fun for your guests the day before your wedding to give your guests a chance to get in to the spirit of things. An event the day after such as brunch is always a great idea too, and will give you a chance to thank everyone for joining you.

London wedding coordinator

Does your venue have a coordinator?

Will they be there on the day of your wedding? How will the venue assist you in the planning of your wedding outside of confirming timings and suggesting suppliers to you. Will they be there to oversee the entire day, or just from the time your wedding starts? Does your venue have a dedicated member of staff to coordinate with your suppliers in the weeks before the wedding?

Consider hiring a Wedding Planner

A Wedding Planner will be able to advise you on how to choose your perfect wedding venue. They will have a detailed understanding of what kind of wedding you would like and know exactly what is important to you. A wedding planner is someone who is highly experienced in searching for wedding venues and knows exactly what questions to ask. They will be able to save you time, money and in some cases, even your sanity. Bride & Belle Luxury Weddings are UK Wedding Planners, here to assist you with your wedding planning.
