A TIMELESS AND ROMANTIC WEDDING AT VILLA BOLOGNA IN MALTA

THE BRIEF

If i could think of three words to describe this wedding in Malta, they would be classic, romantic and personal. Last September I headed off to the  beautiful island of Malta for Keighley and Matt’s gorgeous wedding.  I first started working with Keighley and Matt in 2017 after they realised that they would need the help of a London based wedding planner to plan their dream wedding in Malta. Our first meeting took place at The Ned in the City of London and we spent the afternoon talking through ideas and getting to know each other. Their brief was simple; a beautiful, personal and fun filled wedding in the sun with their family and friends, with good food, good music and a great time.

THE VENUE

Keighley and Matt have a shared love for history and architecture, so it was really important this was reflected in their choice of venue. Malta was an obvious choice, given its rich culture and long history dating back many hundreds of years. After lots of research ,Villa Bologna was decided upon as the wedding venue. An exclusive use, dry hire venue situated in the historical area of Attard, it is a stunning and elegant 18th century country house, still lived in by successors of the family that built it in 1745. In addition to hosting the day at Villa Bologna, Keighley and Matt decided that they would like to carry on the dancing and decided to hire an additional venue for the after party. Continuing with the historical theme, they opted to host their wedding after party at The Vaults, a converted World War II bunker located in the Maltese countryside.

THE GUESTS

The day before the wedding, guests were invited for  cocktails at the spectacular Hilton in St Julian’s Bay, followed by a fabulous Villa Party the day after the wedding at Villa Rosa, once home to Winston Churchill. The day after this, a final farewell took place on board the Hera, a stunning boat cruise around Malta’s Mediterranean coast, taking in the beautiful sights and giving guests a chance to swim in the deliciously azure sea.

THE TEAM

Thank you to all of the team who made this wedding possible. The most delicious of food from Malta Wedding caterer Corinthia Caterers , the insanely talented Alistair and his team at Alistair Floral design who produced the most intricate and beautiful bouquets and floral arrangements, and the very talented Andrew of Imagine Photography Malta who captured the day so perfectly. The beautiful invitations and wedding day stationery were created by Adele of Calendar Paper Co who illustrated personalised and bespoke menus for each of the guests, as well as creating a spectacular invitation suite. Hair and Make up by Sarah and Sara of Bespoke Occasions and wonderful entertainment from David and Gilmour.

 

PERFECT
