MICRO WEDDINGS – IT’S ALL IN THE DETAIL

Advice, Covid-19 Resources, Micro Weddings

If you’re planning a micro wedding in the UK, then this blog post is all about the Who, What, Where and How. With over a decade planning beautiful and stylish weddings all over the UK and abroad, here is everything I know about Micro weddings and why I think it is the wedding you’ve always dreamed of.

LAVISH THE CHOSEN FEW

Small micro-weddings don’t have to mean less impact. In fact, I’d go far as to say the opposite is true. A smaller, more intimate affair allows you to really get to grips with the little things, the finer details. Concentrating your budget on the select few you’ve chosen to share in your wonderful day. Working with an experienced and well-connected UK wedding planner to devise creative ways to add meaningful luxury where it gives the most impact, making your loved ones feel super-special that you’ve chosen them to share your memorable day.

Because you and your partner aren’t spread so thin, mingling amongst a larger group– you’ll feel more connected, present and integral to every part of the celebration.

Focus on quality, rather than quantity.

VENUES – THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

Planning a smaller wedding allows you to get really creative when it comes to choosing your ideal venue. You don’t need to be limited by hotels or country estates. Think of your favourite restaurant gallery or garden? Perhaps wine bars, hotel suites, a marquee in the garden of your family home or even a destination wedding. A smaller number of guests means you can either consider really unique private spaces, or even creating them yourself, topped off with gourmet food, perfect wine pairings and specialist decorative details.

Improve your options by being flexible, consider weekdays or off-peak times. Here at Bride & Belle, we’ve created some truly memorable and unique celebrations in the grounds of family homes or by hiring an area of a private estate, giving real flexibility and intimacy. Having fewer guests make it easier to choose venues with accommodation for everyone to stay.

If you’re looking at hiring a private space in a larger venue, think about how well your area is cordoned off. Are other guests or event users sharing the same space?

CONVERT CAVERNOUS INTO INTIMATE

Alternatively, you might have secured a big space but need to convert into something more intimate? There are so many clever little tricks you can use; mood lighting, fabulous table layouts, splitting the room with separate seating, lounge, food and cocktail areas? Think about where you’d like to be for the ceremony and seat your guests in such a way that they don’t miss a thing.

CREATE THE MOOD

Use furniture, lighting, plants, fabrics, scented candles, flowers and music to create a wonderfully personal ambience. Give your guests enough room to feel comfortable, so they can chat with one another from a safe distance but also move around freely to top up their plate, glass or get to the rest rooms.

When you’re looking for a photographer or videographer pick experienced individuals who really understand what you want from your micro-wedding. Someone who will blend in and become part of your day, especially hard with so few guests. We’ve worked on many micro-weddings and will happily curate a team of industry leading wedding suppliers who will integrate seamlessly into your day, capturing the moments you’ll want to treasure.

READ MICRO, THINK BESPOKE

A smaller wedding means you can really drill down to the detail, make all those little individual touches completely bespoke. Handwritten invitations, menus and thank you cards, personalised table decorations and welcome boxes for guests in their bedrooms. All the things you wouldn’t be able to coordinate on a larger scale.
